I think that the best race are Fey but also Dark Elf are strong
However Fey if you know how to use well some units are imbattible
dark dwarf also not bad for engineer and smithy into citadell

The best race for low lv chars end end for the end game is High elf. Unfortunatly they are extremely weak before that and can easily get rushed so it's a 2-bladed sword.
